Winter's Tale

Giving the gift of theatre

In keeping with all things Bard, Langley's Darcy J. Knopp has penned a play that will bring some of the favourite Shakespearean character back to the stage in Langley during late January and early February.

"Rotten in the State of Denmark" was written and is being directed by Knopp, an actor, director, and playwright with a long history on and off the community theatre stages of Langley.

“Hamlet is the best play ever written? Really? Even I could do better, and I’m an amateur hack!” joked Knopp.

Bard in the Valley brings 'Winter's Tale' to summer stage

Bard in the Valley is cooling summer down with its production of 'The Winter's Tale' coming to the stage on July 4.

This redemptive but tragic story takes place across two time periods, following the devastating effects of suspicion and jealousy of a king and his kingdom. At the same time, the king's lost daughter is trying to find her place in the world.

The play follows the two stories and concludes with their connection in an unexpected redemption.
